An eco-friendly, one-off piece of art with free UK delivery. Perhaps an unusual Valentine gift for him?

It is not a print or copy, it is the original piece made by me, making it unique. Not another the same.

Handmade from junk mail, vintage postcards and worn-out library books. Everything used in its making was destined for the bin.

Each of the sixteen squares has been hand-sewn and depicts so-called 'Men's Stuff'. You can see caravans (postcard from 1968), a city gent (1984), Silverstone (1962), a fireman (1988), John Wayne (1958), Buzz Aldrin (1985), a man looking at his bald patch (1964), a fry-up (1975), a pint, cricket (1988), builders (1979), a watch (1978), a DIY-er (1966), boat enthusiasts (1968), a tie and Tony Curtis dressed as a woman.

It measures 21cms x 21cms, not including the border, which you can trim to your desired size.

This listing does not include the frame.

I have lived in London for thirty years, and travel around on public transport collecting magazines and leaflets that people leave lying around. I have been known to pick it from the pavement, too.

Anyway, it just gives me a kick to make art out of things others discard.

I absolutely never print anything. My materials have already been printed by someone else and then thrown away. I use the actual book, so some of these squares are pretty old, going back as far as 1958.

I never use books which could otherwise be read, they must be in a sorry state before I will cut them.

I record all of the details for each individual square (giving credit to photographers etc..) on my blog (alisonsye.com), as there is not enough room here.

All of my work is individually numbered, this piece is 799.
