Full description
Hallmarked open anticlastic ring, handmade in sterling silver.
This ring was hand crafted by first etching the silver with a reptile-skin pattern, then forming it into a ring. The ring was then forged by anticlastic raising to achieve the graduated curve shape and sawn to open it with an angled cut at the shallowest point of the curve.
To accentuate the skin pattern and the overall shape of the ring, it was depletion gilded – a heat process that whitens the surface of the silver – after which the high points of the etched side and the ring’s edges were polished back to the natural silver colour.
The size of the ring is O (UK). It is comfortable to wear and has been designed to match the bangle shown in the last image, which is available here: https://folksy.com/items/6820611-Silver-Anticlastic-Open-Bangle-with-Etched-Reptile-Skin-Pattern.
The ring has been hallmarked at the London Assay Office and carries my individual maker's mark.
