The cold dark winter months have arrived again! but that does mean the winter coats can come out!
How about adding some colour to your home, to brighten up the days ahead? From a range of handmade clocks (that will brighten up any corner of a room) to desk tidies, and coat hooks to hang all your winter walking gear. Unique designs born from function.
Add a bold splash of colour to a room or your favourite piece of furniture with this handmade deep blue wooden blockclock. Graphically inspired, this clock is ideally suited for your lounge, study or bedroom.
Utilizing sustainably forested tulip wood, 12 holes represent the face/hour marks of the clock and a battery operated quartz clock mechanism completes the design. The plastic minute hand passes in front of each hour hole to register a clear and easily readable time.
Each clock measures 135mm square by 35mm in depth, comes with a battery and is finished in a matt lacquer to protect the wood and provide a long lasting finish.
These clocks can even be hung on a wall if you like, simply hang it through the 12 o clock hole.
Each clock is hand made so imperfections and surface defects could be visible due to the nature/natural colour of the wood, and subsequently may look slightly different from the photos above. But this only adds to the unique individual quality of this handmade design.
please note, a slight audible tick is noticeable when the clock is running.
I wanted to create a clock that is modern & provides a personal touch via bold colour options/aesthetics. Versatility is important so the chosen dimensions mean it is just as effective and practical on a bedside table or sideboard, providing a clear view of the time via colourful handles and simple holes as the face.
A lot of my designs use wood that is available from local woodyards. So the specific wood chosen for the blockclock can vary week to week as i like to use wood that is available locally to me, not just a trendy wood used by other companies or favourited in publications month to month. Currently popular wood is used. It's a hardwood & gives a super finish when painted without showing any grain or knots. Other times i use beech wood, another hardwood with a tight grain pattern.
both are lightweight, (ideal for a small quirky design like this) and have a straight, unique grain pattern, adding to the benefits of it being an ideal wood to colour.
