I have lived in London for thirty years, and travel around on public transport collecting magazines and leaflets that people leave lying around. I have been known to pick it from the pavement, too.
Anyway, it just gives me a kick to make art out of things others discard.
I absolutely never print anything. My materials have already been printed by someone else and then thrown away.
I record all of the details for each individual square (giving credit to photographers etc..) on my blog (alisonsye.com), as there is not enough room here.
All of my work is individually numbered, this piece is 795.
You can also find me on Instagram (my favourite), Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Drop by and say 'Hello'.

An eco-friendly piece of original art. Perhaps for a paper anniversary gift or unusual valentine present.
It is not a print or copy, it is the original piece made by me, making it unique.
'Signed For' delivery is included in the price. UK only.
It is handmade from old museum leaflets, calendars, diaries and library books. Everything used in its making was destined for the bin. I never cut up books which could otherwise be read.
Each of the sixteen squares has been hand-sewn and depicts a pair of people (or in some cases, a trio). You can see Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard in Brief Encounter (1945), a scene from a railway poster by Maurice Greiffenhagen (1926), Virginia Woolf watching her parents read, Audrey Hepburn and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. in Wait Until Dark (1967), a scene from La Dolce Vita (1960), some girls in a Sargent painting, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, a passenger at a refreshment trolley (Paddington Station, 1937), some underground blitz shelterers, the Moomins, Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy, English National Ballet leaflet (photo by Perry Curties), and, a scene from Vertigo (1958).
It measures 21cms x 21cms, not including the border, which you can trim.
This listing does not include the frame.
Please note, if you live outside the EU you are responsible for paying import duties or taxes, in accordance with your country's customs laws.
