Full description

A rather attractive little bowl which could be used for green tea, sake, wine or any other favourite beverage. It was thrown "off the hump" and the foot ring hand carved using a custom made tool. An iron oxide slip was brushed on to create an abstract pattern while the clay was leather hard. After the bisc firing a dolomite glaze was applied. This is a new glaze recipe which is semi-translucent, and allows the decoration to show through more clearly where the glaze is thinner.

The bowl measures approx. 2.25 ins in height and approx. 3.5 ins in diameter across the mouth. Mark Smalley's personal symbol has been impressed inside the foot ring.

Postage and packing for this item is at a fixed cost of £3.00 for economy delivery within the UK.

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
