Full description

A lovely little bowl with hand-painted, iron underglaze decoration. This piece was hand thrown "off the hump" (meaning off the top of a cone of clay). Once leatherhard the base was carved and shaped to make it round. It was fired to around 1270 degrees C on clam shells, which have left distinctive, raised marks on the underside. Although it balances nicely on the rounded base, the shell marks help to stop it toppling over if it's knocked.

This would make a nice vessel for drinking sake, whisky, wine or any other beverage in small quantities.

Measaures approx. 2.5 inches in height and approx. 3 inches across at its widest point.

Carries Mark Smalley's personal mark to the base. Postage and packing for this piece will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 for economy delivery within the UK.

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
