I wanted to make a simple product that really displayed and exploited the beauty of the burr veneers and also make something that was useful.

Full description
I have made these coasters using 4 squares of highly decorative burr veneer in contrasting colours. These I have bonded to good quality high density ply-wood. The woods used are walnut, rosewood, maple and oak.
The finish is polyurethane varnish which is hard wearing and heat proof. The surface finish is non-reflective, semi matt so they do not show finger marks.
Soft tabs underneath stop the coasters from slipping and protect the table surface.
