I have been transforming complete vintage books into clocks for a few years. Not every clock can be converted and I am often asked for book titles that I cannot work with so I spent some time trying to think of how I could offer what people were looking for to give the perfect gift.
I also find that whilst everyone enjoys a bit of nostalgia some find the idea of a whole vintage book a bit too much like an 'old book' or too quirky for their decor. By presenting the original pages in this way the clock appeals to a wider audience and merges the traditional illustrations and page layouts with a more modern style of presentation.

Discontinued book clock style. Was £28, now £16. This clock is created using an original book page. The title featured here is Bird Recognition Volume 1 Sea-Birds & Waders by James Fisher and was published in 1947.
The frame measures 14cm x 19cm and is designed to be hung on a wall.
The frame used in this product is made at a local studio from Polcore, a material that uses recycled polystyrene making it light weight and considerate of the environment. It has a beautiful wood grain effect finish which you can see more clearly in the close up image. The original book page is mounted on museum quality fsc approved board which I secure into the frame using traditional hand tools and fittings.
Every clock is presented in a beautiful high quality black gift box with tissue, an information card (all recycled/fsc approved) and a label detailing the book that has been used.
The clock is battery operated and takes one AA 1.5V battery (not included due to postal regulations). This is a sweep quartz movement meaning the hands move around smoothly with no loud ticking sound.
Handcrafted items from The Forgotten Library seek to create new treasures from abandoned vintage books and other ephemera. Every piece is unique.
