Full description
This is a fabulously over the top statement piece of wearable art. Although it has a brooch fitting securely sewn to the back, it would look equally as good as a necklace. (A fine chain or ribbon can be threaded through the brooch fitting.)
I have started with a base of grey felt onto which I have layered fuchsia pink felt. The central butterfly design has been cut from special iridescent fibres which have been embossed with the butterfly wing design. These fibres glisten and change depending on the light source, but reflect mainly pink, orange and coppery tones with a hint of blue and green.
All the layers have been hand stitched with space-dyed cotton embroidery thread in rainbow hues. The sequins (there are many) range in size from 2mm to 6mm. The antennae are made from covered wire with 2 gorgeous sequins sewn to the end. The antennae can be gently moved to required position.
The butterfly measures approximately 10cm wide by 9cm high.
The butterfly is presented wrapped in tissue in a foiled box tied with rainbow ribbon. It will be posted with Royal Mail Signed For Delivery.
