Unique, handmade sterling silver and vitreous enamel ring made using the technique of cloisonné enamelling.
In the creation of enamel jewellery glass particles are fused to prepared metal through multiple high temperature firings.
In this case fine silver foil, opaque black white and transparent turquoise vitreous/glass enamels have been fused to a copper disc and decorated with fine silver wire to draw the design. The base piece has been fired several times in a kiln at a temperature around 800-850 degrees to fuse the fine glass powder in different layers to the surface of the metal. After the firing process, the finished enamelled piece and the mother of pearl cabochon stone have been set into a special, handcrafted sterling silver ring base and polished to a satin finish.
