I get a kick out of using materials that would otherwise be binned.
The clothes I used here have sentimental value to me.
The purple of the roof used to be my husband's boxer shorts. The windows and door were once shirts worn by my friend, Del. The brickwork was my work uniform shirt.
The grass was my mam’s. She likes to wear synthetic clothing, which I don’t normally use in my work. However, she wore this to my sister’s graduation, so I wanted to sew with it. Perfect for the little hill on which the house stands.
The map in the background is taken from 'Ordnance Survey East Sussex Street Atlas', published by Philips in 1992.
I never use books which could otherwise be read, or clothes with could otherwise be worn.

Vintage recycled East Sussex map postcard. An eco-friendly and original piece of art, you will not find another the same (although it has 10 similar-ish brothers). It is not a print.
I made it by sewing a map, taken from a conked-out atlas, and clothes which had seen better days, onto cereal boxes.
All of my work is individually numbered, this is 783.
It measures 18.5 x 14.5cms.
In keeping with my ethos, it will arrive at your door in a sewn envelope recycled from old magazines.
It will be First Class Royal Mail. If you would like to pay for 'signed-for' delivery, please let me know before making your purchase.
You can find more information about the making of this piece on my blog, alisonsye.com. I also meddle with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumbr and Pinterest. Please drop by and say 'Hello'.
