Through a real appreciation of the Shakers and their ethos, Matthew has created an innovative product range called ‘The Peg Rail Cabinets’ which includes cabinets that hang from the Shaker peg rail. The Shakers believed that everything in the home should have a place. They did not believe in clutter or unnecessary objects. This was achieved by using peg rails at head height from which items such as chairs, mirrors and tools could be hung to keep the room clean and tidy. The Shakers believed that every object in the home should have a function and that decoration was unnecessary. Matthew has built on these principles and devised an exciting cabinet collection that is used in conjunction with his hand made peg rail. The creation is ideal for homemakers who desire functionality and tidiness.

Full description
This refined wine rack is handmade from oak and holds up to six bottles of wine. Each wine bottle can be positioned on the rack to display it’s label. This piece has been ergonomically designed to take up minimum space by hanging from the Shaker Traditions peg rail (the rail can be purchased separately from my shop on Folksy). Please note that this wine rack cannot be wall mounted or hung from another peg rail. The remaining pegs on the rail could be used for additional wine racks, as photographed. They look great grouped together, side by side or with the Shaker Traditions Wine Glass holder (again please refer to my shop on Folksy for this product). It is evident from the photography that traditional cabinet making methods have been used in developing this special piece. The main oak frame is mortice and tenoned. All the solid oak dowels are wedged for extra strength.

This wine rack comes with a hand painted back which includes the staves; in a choice of four Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell colours as stated below.
