We started to make these nipping presses when we became interested in book binding and many others on the market were either cheap and shoddy or extremely expensive. So we decided to make our own. We chose 18mm birch ply as it is strong and smooth making it ideal for a good quality press and finished it with acrylic to give a really smooth and even surface to press the books in.

Quality and Value Made in England
This is a top quality Bookbinding Nipping Press, offering astonishing value for money and hand made with care, here at the Time to Create Studios in Glorious Gloucestershire.
Perfect Size
Measuring 38cm by 22cm this will easily accommodate clamping an A4 size book and is supplied with both 100mm and 150mm coach bolts giving maximum openings of 50mm and 100mm respectively. By using the shorter bolts in the normal run of things, the clamp will remain compact, easy to use and easy to store. The longer bolts come into play for those thicker repair jobs, for albums, or for clamping more than one item at a time.
Strong and Durable
The cheeks of the press are made from top quality birch ply which 18mm thick. This will ensure that they will remain flat and straight, giving even pressure across the whole book. When presses are made from thinner, or weaker, material, they tend to bend when pressure is applied. This pressure then is concentrated at the corners and edges and does not give good results.
The wood is finished with several coats of Acrylic varnish, making it easy to keep clean and well maintained.
These are the book presses we use ourselves when making our hand made note/sketch books.
