This handmade eco-friendly postcard is unique, there is no other the same, although it has five similar brothers.
Everything used in its making was destined for the bin.
The base is made from a cereal box, onto which I have sewn a piece of my childhood Christmas tablecloth. I have emphasized the heart with pale blue thread.
This tablecloth has lots of memories for me. I cut a huge hole from the middle of it when I was 17 (1984) to make myself a scarf-cum-bandanna. I was going for a kind of New Romantic look. After 1984 it was never used again, obviously. Mam was furious.
For more information on the history of the materials used please see my blog (alisonsye.com), where I record the making of each piece, and have more space to write more stuff.
It measures 15cms x 11cms (approx).
My work is individually numbered, this piece is number 84.
This listing is for one postcard.
In keeping with my ethos, it will arrive on your doormat in an envelope sewn from old magazines.
