This cup has a quiet, dignified presence due to the satin-matte, crackle shino glaze. The carved surface makes it a very pleasant piece to handle. Inside a more shiny shino glaze with a finer crackle has been used .. it also has a faint lustre from being reduced in the gas kiln.
The piece was fired to around 1280 degrees centigrade so is extremely hard wearing. Carries Mark Smalley's symbol to the inside of the foot ring. This cup would be a nice size for drinking spirits such as whisky but would be equally suitable for small portions of wine or fruit juice.
Measures just under 3 inches in height and approx. 3 inches wide.
Postage and packing for this piece will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 for delivery within the UK.
Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
