A rather attractive little cup or bowl with dolomite glaze. This piece was thrown "off the hump" on a potter's wheel. Once leather hard, the bottom was hand trimmed and shaped into a curve, so that it balances right on the apex. The proof being that it spins rather well, like a top!
It was fired on shells and these have created some lovely, interesting marks on the base, with some pale blue hues being drawn from the black slip.
Inside is also glaze with dolomite and there are some light, coffee coloured streaks in the glaze. This would be a very nice cup to drink wine or spirits from .. it holds quite alot of liquid! It will rock from side to side, but would be quite hard to knock over completely. Measures approx. 2.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the belly.
Mark Smalley's personal symbol is impressed to the base.
Postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 for delivery within the UK.
