This Celtic shawl pin was inspired by the designs of the ancients of this land. The earthy tones of the hammered, antiqued copper, radiate warmth and comfort. The simple, yet effective, design will adorn your knitwear with sophistication and is a perfect addition to the jewellery box of any devotee of the stylish shawl.

The Business Bit:
This listing is for a piece very similar to the one in the photographs. I hand craft each piece of jewellery that emerges from my studio, and although I try my best, some variation will occur. This, of course, makes your piece totally unique.

I love raw copper, and I love shawls and knitwear, so it seemed natural to create jewellery to wear with these items, when a pendant or necklace may not always be appropriate. This Pin is stunningly simple, though it took me some time to perfect, due to the wire that I used being heavy gauge and not easy to work with.

I took inspiration from Ancient Celtic designs, who used coils and curves, that lend themselves so well to wirework. I've always been fascinated with Ancient designs, mostly those of the Celts and Vikings. Living in the UK, these influences are everywhere, and my love of all things Celtic (well, with a surname like Pritchard - a North Wales name) must be in my bones! Whilst working on this piece, I could see a Welsh woman, going about her daily chores around Caernarfon, with a thick woollen shawl held closed about her shoulders with a pin such as this. I dare say she would have found it hard to live without.
