Full description
This wee pebble was found on the beach at Culzean in the West of Scotland. It is a piece of granite that would have originally come from Ailsa Craig before it was washed in to the sea and tumbled for many years to become this beautiful pebble.
Ailsa Craig is a small island off of the West Coast of Scotland famous for it granite which is used to make 60 - 70% of all curling stones. The now uninhabited island is formed from the volcanic plug of an extinct volcano
The island, colloquially known as "Paddy's milestone" is today a bird sanctuary, providing a home for huge numbers of gannets and an increasing number of puffins.
I have hung the piece of Ailsa Craig granite from a handcrafted sterling silver bail and a fresh water pearl.
Hung from an 18 inch sterling silver chain - please let me know if you would prefer a 16 inch chain - longer than 18 inches is available at a small extra cost
