Welcome to Silver Birch Studio. My shop features a wide selection of handmade jewellery items, mainly in sterling silver with semi-precious stones. Copper and beaded jewellery are also featured. I have plenty of items in stock ready for immediate despatch.
A long-ago scuba diving trip and a visit to the Monterey aquarium which had a wonderful kelp forest display - huge fronds waving gently in the underwater currents while hundreds of fish swim in and out amongst them.

Full description
This unique sterling silver pendant depicts the undersea world! A while back I imprinted the shape of a small piece of dried seaweed onto 1mm sterling silver sheet and named it 'kelp forest'. The imprint was slightly textured and I used oxidising agent to darken it to an antique finish, leaving the rest of the surface brightly polished. I rounded off the corners, gave the silver a gentle outward curve and added a hand-made silver bail. Recently I decided to give it a new lease of life by soldering on a gold plated dolphin charm and drilling holes to represent bubbles of oxygen rising from the kelp. It would make a lovely gift for a nature-lover or scuba-diving enthusiast.
The dimensions of the pendant are 2.8x3.6cm. It weighs 7.4g and will be supplied with a 40cm (18in) sterling silver trace chain - contact me if you would prefer a different chain or a leather thong instead. Standard silver hallmarks including my own maker's mark have been applied by the London Assay Office.
Your pendant will be presented in a smart gift box and sent to you by Royal Mail first class post.
