This year marks the 150th Anniversary of Lewis Carroll's first Alice handwritten manuscript, Alice's Adventures Under Ground. This was later published as Alice in Wonderland with illustrations by John Tenniel. I recently recommissioned an obsolete domestic knitting machine by hacking into it with a small computer so that the needle selection can be controlled by open source software. To me it seemed natural to breathe new life into 150 year old illustrations with a 30 year old knitting machine and current computer technology.

Full description
Giant Alice in Wonderland cushion. Alice has imbibed from the tiny bottle labeled 'drink me'! She's trapped in a knitted lambswool cushion this time. Available in silver and black or cream and black 14" x 24" (36 cm x 61 cms).
These charming Alice in Wonderland cushions breathe an afterlife into both Lewis Carroll's original Alice's Adventures Underground sketches and a hitherto obsolete domestic knitting machine.
The original manuscript sketch has been optimised for knitting on computer and printed / knitted on a computer hacked domestic machine to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Underground Adventures, later to become known as Alice in Wonderland.
After manipulating the pixels of the image the design is downloaded onto an obsolete domestic knitting machine by hacking into it with a shield and tiny computer so that a laptop can take over the needle selection and therefore the patterning device of the machine.
Hand finished with a buttoned enclosure.
Hand wash in hot water.
