I was packing up some of the recent pieces I had made and the little purple elephant was sitting on top of a bright purple fused dish.
As I looked at it I realised how good this would look as a suncatcher, an elephant in a frame in vibrant rich colours.
I realised once I'd drawn the pattern that to complete the stylised design the elephant needed to be dressed in ceremonial finery so I used some precious dichroic glass for its clothing

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A brand new design for Spring 2015 and I think it is very special.
An Elephant, in processional finery, in a richly coloured, ornate frame in the manner of an Far Eastern wall hanging.
The elephant is deep pinky red and its robes are decorated with some wonderful patterned, and really ather expensive, dichroic glass. This glass has the appearance of embroidered cloth and shines with hints of turquoise and pink.
The elephant has a clear glass surround and it is then framed in rich textured blue with iridescent deep purple and red corners and insets.
For strength and neatness it has a border of twisted wire.
This is beautifully bright and cheerful and casts lovely colours when it hangs in the light of a window.
It is 5.25 x 5 inches and hangs from a strong silvery chain which is securely attached at either side of the top.
My pieces are all unique. I use different shades and textures of glass to ensure that everything I make, even when to the same pattern, is different.
