I was looking at a little collection of nuggets I had made in my little hotpot kiln and realised that they reminded me those lovely childhood moments when you gave in fascination into a rockpool trying to make sense of the shapes and colours just beneath the water. So I decided to incorporate the nuggets into my own rockpool.
Having just returned from a holiday in Northern Spain where we spent one lovely afternoon walking along the beach searching for treasures in the rockpools (I found a piece of amethyst) I decided I would make another Rockpool when we got home and that is what I did with my first of this design.
Now I make it just because I enjoy the making and the end result.

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
I've called this Rockpool and it is to the same design as my Rainbow Circles but this time in shades of the sea, blue, green, aqua.
I've included a super mix of glass nuggets, most of which I have fused myself in my kiln, incorporating quite a lot of dichroic glass which will rather magically alter their colour in different lights. I've also added a few beads for extra interest.
There are some really interesting designs in the nuggets and if you look carefully you can spot all kinds of molluscs and crustaceans, even a few tiny underwater flowers - just use your imagination.
I've used a good mix of glass textures for the 8 segment, marine coloured border to give it lots of movement.
The circle is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire.
This is 14cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
This is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
I can never make another just the same as this, as each fused nugget is quite unique and therefore unrepeatable.
The 5th photo shows the one I made previously so you can each is unique.
This is a reminder of a day at the seaside and a walk along the beach.
