When I started to work with glass I collected bottles to experiment with. Some were far too good a shape and colour to melt down and so my upcycled bottle vases were born.
Nowadays I am far more interested in the shape and colour of any bottle that comes into the house than the contents...

I create these unusual vases by upcycling empty bottles; in this case a beautiful blue 75cl Ty Nant sparkling water bottle. First I cut the top off and polished the edges until smooth (no sharp bits here). Then I sandblast the bottle with my original design to give it a frosted finish.
Many people struggle to believe these vases start life as a bottles; the last picture shows a similar bottle vase complete with bottle top just to prove it!
The vase is around 7.5" (19cm) tall and 3" (7.5cm) across the base. The frosted finish is permanent; however I have given the vase a coat of polish to resist fingermarks so I recommend gentle handwash only to retain this coating.
