Full description
This wood fruit bowl has been made from locally grown Holly Oak wood also known as Holm Oak.
The bowl was turned whilst still green and allowed to dry very slowly which has resulted in it taking on a slightly symmetrical oval shape. Its grain is beautiful and shows a super arrangement of oak wood's medullary rays. This is an aesthetic, functional and tactile piece.
After turning the bowl was sanded smooth prior to drying, after which multiple treatments of finishing oil have been applied. When completely dry, too finish, the bowl has been buffed with natural carnauba wax to bring it to a soft sheen.
