It's freezing cold in the far North - the wind can cut through you! I wanted something really warm and cosy but also fashionable enough to wear when going outside. I liked the idea of a keyhole scarf to keep you snug, and that it can be worn in different ways according to your own preference.
The slouchy hat is cosy and comfortable, with just enough gaps in it for your head to "breathe", but not let the cold in. It can be adapted to be a regular beanie by working less rows, or a slouchy hat by working extra rows before the band.
The hat is worked with 2 colours used together to create that beautiful chunky but soft and squishy feel. Warm but not too heavy.

Here we have a pattern for a deliciously chunky and cosy keyhole scarf with a slouchy hat to match.
The scarf can be worn with the end through the “keyhole” as normal, as a straight scarf, or wrapped around the neck and tucked in like a cowl.
The hat is a slouchy, squishy, beautifully chunky beanie, 11” long from the crown, and this is adaptable by working either fewer or more rows before the single crochet band at the end.
The pattern is a mixture of shells and front/back post sts, adding interest and texture.
Easily and quickly worked, most people can make this set in a couple of evenings.
Pattern is written in US terms (conversion chart included).
