Full description
To make this jungle-themed pendant I used a rolling mill to imprint a rippled or tiger-striped design onto copper sheet and then cut around it with a piercing saw and smoothed the edges. I treated the copper with oxidising solution to define the pattern and darken it to an antique bronze colour. The high areas were polished to a lovely warm glow and then the pendant was treated with two coats of metal lacquer to avoid further oxidation and to minimise direct contact with the skin. The gently curved surface enhances its reflective properties. I added a wire loop bail and threaded the pendant onto antique copper coloured chain, secured by a handmade hook and ring. Two long beads of natural warm brown mahogany wood offset the pendant and harmonise beautifully with the colours.
The copper measures 3 x 7cm and weighs 8.2g.
