The wool felt cover of this notebook has a comforting, soft feel to it. The marled yellow-grey finish is complemented beautifully by the floral cotton lining fabric, which is sprinkled with a design of daisies and turks-head lillies.
I wanted to enhance these fabrics, without making the embroidery too obvious, so I chose a deep blue silk and used buttonhole stitch, to finish the edges, plus a deep green silk thread, couched with gold, for the join between the felt and fabric on the front cover.
The fastening is simple, but effective - I made a plaited cord, from the same cobalt blue French linen, that I chose for the binding. The overall effect is attractive, but not overdone - I'm pleased with the result and hope you will be too!

A journal with a wool felt cover, patterned fabric lining and hand embroidered embellishment.
- Wool felt cover, in a marled yellow-grey.
- Fabric lining and edge detail. Floral design of daisies and lillies in blue and yellow, on a soft grey background.
- Embellished with hand embroidery in blue and green silk and gold thread.
- Fastened with a hand-plaited linen cord in cobalt blue, with green textured button.
- Hand bound in Longstitch, with cobalt blue linen thread.
- Contains 30 pages of hand made cotton-rag paper, with natural edges. Paper is crisp and quite thick, with a slight texture from the mesh lining of the mould that each sheet was made in.
- Measures 4.5" / 11.5cm square - just right for your pocket or hand bag.
