Last year, I went into a charity shop and bought, what I believed to be, Mousie-Mousie. I thought this would make a good gift for my sister, we used to play it during the Seventies and the box was identical to the one we used to have.

It was sealed with a ridiculous amount of sellotape, but the lady assured me that it had been checked and that all of the pieces were inside. However, when I got home and opened it – not a mouse in sight. Instead, some old Monopoly parts.

I thought they were 1960s, at first, but after some research I discovered that they are nearer 1950s. Exciting, but I didn’t quite take that in until it suddenly dawned on me that the cards I had been sewing are sixty years old.

You can find out more about the making of these cards on my blog (alisonsye.com) where I prattle on endlessly!

You can also find me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

Full description

This card is unique, there is no other the same.

It is also super-eco friendly, as everything used in its making was rescued from the bin.

It is made from an old 1950/60s Monopoly set, which had no board.

I have sewn the Pentonville Road card onto an index card from WH Smith. A friend gave me the index cards,as she said she would never use them but didn't want to throw them away.

Inside the card you will find the Community Chest card and money shown in the image.

As the card is upcycled from old goods, it may be a little battered and marked. I have made no attempt to erase the blemishes left by more than half a century of life. I celebrate life's blemishes. I consider it to be a little piece of art.

The envelope is made from a set of envelopes I bought in a charity shop some time ago. I have a charity shop stationary addiction! I have cut down the envelope and sewn it to fit the card.

The card measures 7.6 x 9.5cms (folded), and the envelope measures 8.8 x 11.4 cms.

The card is left blank inside for your own message.

All of my work is individually numbered, this is 177.

In keeping with my ethos, your purchase will arrive on your doormat in a sewn envelope made from old magazines.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you

Alison
