The Gees Bend quilters of America are a big source of inspiration for this piece, although the design is my own, made from hand drawn and cut paper templates.

"Bars and Stripes No 3" is an original piece of textile art work, which will bring a dramatic splash of colour and pattern to your wall!
This is an entirely hand sewn wall hanging made from a variety of cotton (one cotton mix) fabrics. The textiles used include repurposed material, as well as some new fabrics. The fabrics are cut and pieced, then quilted with a thin wadding and backing fabric. A hanging sleeve is added to the reverse, ready to take baton of wood for hanging (baton not included, due to size restrictions for mailing, but they are readily available from DIY shops). Also on the reverse is a label with the title, etc.
The wall hanging is tea dyed in hot water to give it an aged and wrinkled appearance. (There is one tiny red to white colour run, just visible in the top left corner.)
The piece measures approx 37 inches (94.5 cm) wide, and 23 1/4 inches (59 cm) high.
(Please note that there are shadows from tree branches in some of the images.)
