I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. A pretty rose garden featuring white roses hand-stitched in vintage linen thread forms the design on this dainty brooch.
Naturally dyed fibres, in shades of blue and green, have been felted to an eco felt background (produced from recycled plastic bottles) to from the background for this brooch. Daisies and hollyhocks have been added in cotton threads and crewel wools, as has the foliage.
The brooch is stiffened with interfacing. Yarn, in a pale blue twisted with white, is couched around the brooch to frame the design.
The back of the brooch is neatened with felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place. This brooch is one of a series, each one listed separately.
