My children are now grown up and have left home, when they were young they used to play in an old caravan in my parents garden. My Dad decided to scrap the caravan but kept the sheets of aluminium sides in case they came in handy one day.
I thought that it might be an idea to make some crude and simple yachts and eventually made this mobile for decoration. The wood is a piece of Cornish driftwood.
The boats are roughly 4" to 6" in length and the driftwood is 14" long. I have screwed in two brass eyes and attached a length of garden string and will supply a picture hook so that it can be hung up.
It would look in place in a beach hut or seaside cottage. Ideal for anyone with a love of the sea or with an interest in marine life.
The boats are simple, if not crude in their design, all edges have been rubbed to take off any sharp edges.
I have also made some individual boats to the same design and rough size, if you would like one or more, please ask and I can give you a price.
My Dad scrapped the grandchildren's old caravan when they grew up, he kept on to me about the salvaged aluminium, so I decided to make several items from some of this recycled material.
