Sometimes less is more, as with this simple but elegant vase.
It was hand thrown on the wheel using a dark, coarse clay and after the bisque firing, coated with a thick and luxuroius white glaze. This contains dolomite, a mineral which gives the surface a wonderful satin-smooth feel, almost like marble stone.
The dark clay shows faintly through the glaze adding depth, while a small dot of copper slip enlivens the whole piece.
The vase stands approx. 4.5 inches tall and just under 3 inches across the base. marks Smalley's personal symbol has been impressed to the underside.
Postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £3.00 within the UK.
Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
