This etched copper cuff bracelet / bangle bearing flying ravens on a patterned swirling sky has been heat treated to create a vibrant multicoloured patina: this will deepen over time. I have developed a technique of literally 'painting' with a flame to manipulate the shape and direction of the colours. Although there is a degree of control, each piece is unique, as the colour patina cannot be replicated exactly.
Bangle is approximately 19cm in circumference, 5cm width
colour patination and etch may vary slightly
please note that the image shows the first example of this cuff, and colours may vary from those in the piece you receive, though every effort is made to duplicate the original patina as much as possible.
I first became beguiled by ravens when I visited a bird sanctuary with my best friend many moons ago. I was surprised by the size and presence of these birds close up: I was further amazed when one of them started to speak English - ravens and other crows are excellent mimics, much like parrots, and will pick up both words and sounds and repeat them. They are also excellent problem solvers, and have been observed dropping hard shelled nuts onto roads so that they can be broken open by passing cars and dropping stones into vessels of water to displace it and reach an otherwise unreachable tasty treat, as observed in Aesops fable 'The Crow and the Jug'
