Harry and Hatty are a little hare family. At 17cm tall they are the perfect sized toy for little hands. When I was a kid, my favourite toys were small enough to smuggle into school in my school bag! To give you an idea of the size, in one of the photos Hatty is standing next to a regular tin of beans. If you would like to make your own hares, this pattern includes the instructions for knitting them and the little dress and jacket.
About the pattern …
The knitting pattern is written row by row so it is easier for beginners to follow, and includes a list of abbreviations and step by step construction details to help you. With this pattern you don’t have having to knit lots of little pieces, as the head, body and legs are all knitted in one piece from the bottom up. You just need to make the arms, ears and tail separately. All pieces are knitted flat on 3.75mm straight needles. The pattern will be sent to you by email as a pdf file within 24 hours of payment.
To make your toy you will need this pattern and …
- Double knit (light worsted weight yarn) in each colour: cream for Hatty or grey for Harry (I used Rowan alpaca cotton yarn).
- The outfits each use less than 25g of double knit yarn in white, blue and pink.
- The eyes are small black buttons, but you can use black wool to embroider the eyes instead if you wanted.
- You will also need some toy filling.
