Many of my mosaics incorporate bird filled suns. This one was inspired by the Native American legend of "The Sun's Children" whose first born was named Bluebird. He is associated with the rising sun.
The Bluebird has been associated with being the harbinger of happiness for many years.

Bluebird of Happiness
Mosaic bluebird on a background drawing of the sunrise.
The bird is constructed from plywood, and tiled with blue glass tile, a blue glass with a copper fleck, Venetian gold leaf glass and a milliefiori bead for the eye. The depth of the bird is approximately 16mm and fixed securely onto the drawing.
The background is drawn onto card using pens and watercolour pencils.
Framed in a black box frame with plexi-glass. (Photo without the glass to eliminate reflection)
The size is approx 22.5 cm x 22.5 cm, depth approx 4.5 cm.
