Full description

This listing is for the pair of earrings seen in the photos - approx 40mm long by 11.5mm wide - not made to order, the only pair of its kind available. I made the beads by hand from borosilicate glass using a gas/oxygen torch and I made the silver parts by hand from Argentium 960 silver. The only "ready made" parts are the crystal spacer beads.

Borosilicate glass - stronger than standard soda-lime glass, with intense colours that shift and change depending on the angle and intensity of the light. These beads are made in several stages with a complex coloured core encased in layers of clear. After finishing in the flame they are annealed in a computer-controlled kiln to remove stresses from the glass and ensure maximum strength and stability.

Argentium 960 silver - higher purity than sterling (96% compared to 92.5%) - harder and more durable than sterling or fine silver - the brightest and whitest of all precious metals - ethically sourced, environmentally friendly. All my pieces are finished with a regime of burnishing and heat-treating to maximise the hardness, shine and tarnish-resistance for which Argentium is celebrated. See www.argentiumsilver.com for information.
