Full description
This Beech bowl has been made from a huge old tree that came down in strong winds just over a year ago. Left to lie for a while on the wood floor, the wood has spalted perfectly.
After turning, the outside of the bowl has been textured and carved then scorched and burnished. The blackened and carved exterior of the bowl is a wonderful contrast to the golden spalting and super smooth finish of the inside. The cracks on the outer surface of the bowl form during the scorching process and do not interfere with the integrity of the bowl.
When completed the bowl has been treated with multiple layers of food safe mineral oil.
