This bowl has been made from the logs of a local fallen chestnut tree that would otherwise have been used for burning. This is the same tree from which I used to gather conkers as a child. Estimated at 230 years old, children would have carried out this activity since the time of the French Revolution. One wonders how many thousands of conkers this tree managed to produce since the 'Madness of King George'
Please note that my turned wooden items rely for their effect by focusing on the grain, splits, defects and faults that occur naturally in reclaimed and fallen timber.
