I designed this for a commission, a kingfisher version. I love kingfishers, a king among birds, so this was a real pleasure to make. I was then asked to make the hummingbird version as a present for someone in America. Now can't decide which I like best..

Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher handmade using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
The suncatcher is in the form of an oval picture showing a bright shiny Hummingbird. The bird is fluttering its wings and has its beak in the middle of a bright pink flower.
The surrounding glass is all clear and prettily textured glass with the glass at the bottom in rippled iridised glass to suggest water and I've used rain drop glass under the bird's chest,
The picture is framed with twisted wire to strengthen and give a good neat edge..
This hangs from a little silver chain which is securely attached at the top by soldered rings.
Really pleased with this design. I've tried to truly depict the colourful hummingbird,such a pretty bird.
I originally designed this for a kingfisher with a fish in its beak instead of the flower and the colours are differently arranged. The 5th photo shows the kingfisher version.
The suncatcher is oval, 18cm high and 14cm wide.
It can hang anywhere, not just in a window but also against a wall and would make a super present and it is absolutely unique.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
