Full description

Is it a spoon, or is it a sculpture?

Hand formed from lavafleck stoneware clay, my bird's nest spoons are painted with porcelain slip to create a clean canvas on which to paint the blue speckled eggs, nestled inside the protective bowl.

A few hand painted downy feathers rest between the eggs.

The spoon has been given a twiggy texture all over.

This spoon can also be made with a hole in the handle and threaded with natural cotton cord ready for hanging-just convo me!

The speckles in the clay erupt during the final stoneware firing, they produce a lovely random effect over the spoon and burst through the porcelain slip to add extra visual interest to the 'nest' interior.

These spoons are designed with the idea that they may become part of a collection of natural and hand formed objects - Still life groups of your own creating. They are not intended to be used with food.

Price is for one spoon-the item shipped will not be the spoon in the main image so it will vary slightly due to the handmade nature of the product.

Spoon sizes vary as they are hand made but the ones in the images range from 13-16 cm.
