Full description

This booklet/zine has 20 A5 pages, printed on recycled papers, with a simple, hand-stitched binding. It brings together some of my thoughts about flowers and fairy tales, with 3 handcarved lino-cut illustrations.

I have taken three fairy tales: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and The Twelve Months, and considered the relevance of the flower symbolism in each story. Don't worry, this is not an academic study or intellectual analysis! It is just a collection of the thoughts that occurred to me. The subtitle is 'The Cycle of Life', because it was only after I started thinking and writing that I realised how the cyclical nature of stories, flowers, and life in general mirrored each other.

In addition to my own thoughts about fairy tales, this zine includes a couple of short extracts from older and contemporary literature, a few (short!) poems, a brief reference list of flowers and their meanings, and a bibliography of references & further reading.
