I had the initial idea for these headbands while attending a workshop on Coptic bindings by Nina Judin, in May 2009 in Amsterdam. While we were making our headbands, Nina mentioned as a side remark that it could also be done from the left to the right if that should seem preferable. And with that tiny remark, she immediately caught my curiosity. I thought, maybe one could make two headbands on the same edge: One from left to right and the other from right to left. Maybe with two different colors. And maybe they could somehow lock into each other so that the result might look unusual and interesting.

It took me a while to find the time to experiment with the thought. Of course it was not as easy as I first thought. The result of my thinking and my experiments are these five Coptic Double Headbands.
