FAIRY TALE BLACKOUT

a mini zine of blackout poetry from fairy tales

"scarred by time

once whole and perfect,

they are living things, not fossils

pour darkness on

the tales"

Taking pages from traditional and contemporary fairy tales, this mini-zine presents a new semi-narrative blackout poem (or tentatively connected series of 6 poems), culled from the existing prose by pouring darkness on the words, obscuring and highlighting a new selection.

Amongst thers, pages are taken from the Brothers Grimm, Peter Asbjornson, Judy Budnitz, Arthur Ransome, Robert Coover & Emma Donoghue, with tales including Donkeyskin, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, The Goose-Girl, and the Sleeping Beauty rendered unrecognisable. However, please rest assured that no books were harmed in the making of this zine!

This is a traditional hand-folded 8 page mini-zine, printed on plain white paper. Size approx. 7.5 x 10.5cm.
