I just love making bowls out of leaves. This splendid bowl is made out of 'nests' of leaves of the beautiful Japanese Anemone Flower plant.
The clay was imprinted into the leaves to pick up the gorgeous texture and shape, and then I shaped these individual clay leaves into a 'nest'.
It is fired to stoneware temperature, and glazed in a lovely soft glossy green that lets all the natural details of the leaves shine through.
When I made these bowls I envisaged them filled with fruit, or perhaps impressing guests filled with crisps and nibbles at a dinner party. They are dishwasher safe, though I would treat them with care as they have natural, undulating edges that are not as sturdy as a smooth rim. .
This bowl measures approx. 17cm across and 6-7 cm high.
