I love painting animals and people because of the eyes and expressions. This gull struck me as such a character and epitomised the sometimes grumpy expression they have. Grumpy and yet appealing as sea gulls remind us so much of sun, sea, sand, summer, and all things happy...until they steal your sandwiches!
