Full description

This beautiful sake cup has actually been fired a total of four times to achieve the very rich reds and brown colours in the shino glaze. This piece was first thrown and deliberately distorted on the wheel, then left for several days to dry before being carefully carved into this unique form. It has been fired in a sealed saggar with wood and charcoal, as well as in a Japanese-designed wood kiln to a temperature in excess of 1300 degrees centigrade.

The cup measures just over three inches tall and approx. 2.5 inches wide. It will hold a generous measure of your favorite tipple. The piece carries Mark Smalley's personal symbol to the base.

UK postage and packing for this item will be at a fixed cost of £2.90.

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
