I love kimonos and I hope you can display and enjoy this cushion as if a beautiful work of art or sculpture. It is afterall, a complete one off! Much of the cloth I use is hand embroidered or hand-printed and I think this is a wonderful way of preserving such an ancient and revered craft.

Stunning vintage kimono silk satin cushion hand-printed with a vibrant flower cart design brimming with peonies, chrysanthemums and blossoms. The main peony petal details are picked out in intricate metallic embroidery. The reverse of cushion is in the same vintage kimono silk depicting a traditional bridge covered in flowers.
I had real trouble trying to capture the colour and the beauty of this cushion and my photos certainly don't do it justice! It is very bright!
The cloth has been taken from a rare and genuine japanese wedding kimono or 'uchikake' worn by a woman dating from the 1970's. I have chosen particular details in the cloth and cropped the fabric accordingly to look good as a cushion. The fabric originates from the Niigata region in Japan which has been a main producer of kimono silk for over one hundred years.
Measures 30cm x 30cm.
100% silk cover
Has a duck feather filler and non-removebale cover.
