About

The fish are knitted in the round with a simple Fair Isle inspired pattern and crochet embellishments.

Difficulty

Advanced beginner, intermediate.

Yarn Suggestions

Jamieson’s of Shetland DK or other dk weight yarn. Approx. 25m (27yds) main colour and 10m (11yds) of contrast colour. Allow for smaller amounts if introducing more colours.

Needles

x5 3.75mm (US 5) dpn knitting needles.

Notions

3.5mm crochet hook, blunt tapestry needle, spare scraps of yarn for markers, large handful of filling/stuffing.

Size

Approximately 20cm long x 8cm wide x 3cm wide (8 ins x 3 ins x 1 1/2 ins).

Gauge

Approximately 28 stitches x 36 rows in stocking stitch over 10cm (4 ins)

Knitting in the round, cast on, cast off, knit stitch, purl stitch, knit two stitches together, pass stitch over, make stitches, working with changes of colour, picking up stitches, Kitchener stitch, read simple chart, single double and triple crochet stitches.
