This glasses case has been entirely hand-stitched from a lovely piece of 'meadow' felt, created from a variety of hand-dyed fibers, and hand-embroidered with a lovely sprinkling of meadow flowers.
Sky blue wool fibers have been felted to a background of kunin felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles. A wide variety of yarn snippets, carefully collected from other yarn projects, have been added to represent the meadow. Stitching in fine cotton has been added to the sky to 'stabilise' the felting. The case is edged in blanket stitch using threads to match the areas of the design. Simple embroidery stitches have been used to add distant daisies and buttercups. The daisies and clover in the foreground are stitched in more detail using more strands of embroidery thread to add perspective.
The case is lined in a printed cotton fabric - blue harebells on a white background, backed with iron-on interfacing. The reverse of the cover is a pale blue linen fabric. The case is seemed with blanket stitch in a pale blue crochet cotton for durability. The case closes with a crocheted loop - using the same blue cotton thread, over a white button.
Dimensions (excluding seems):
Depth - 16 cm approx
Width - 9.5 cm approx
