Pincushions have such an interesting history and examples still exist that are very old. They have had such lovely names -Pimpilowes, Pimplos, Pin-pillows, Pinpoppets to name a few. By the 16th century they were Pyn Pillows and were made as gifts for weddings, new baby gifts etc.

Needlecase with leaf prints front and back appliqued and free embroidery.
Stiffened cover with 4 felt leaves for your needles and pins.
Damask pink cotton fabric.
Popper to hold close.
Pincushion
Traditionally filled with fleece.
Decorated with a flower/button detail to match the needlecase.
Top half made from pretty cotton fabric - pink and green
Lower half dark green felt.
Trimmed with ecru trimming and tiny pearl beads.
Sizes Case approx 10 x 10 cms. ( 4 x 4 inches)
Cushion approx 9 cms dia. (3.75 ins)
Altogether this is a very pretty and useful gift item for a mother, friend or as a treat for yourself -
